Geiger Key Marina: A Masterclass in Key West Brand Evolution

Scaling a Single Graphic into a Full Identity What began as a simple request for a new shirt graphic transformed into a comprehensive Key West brand evolution for one of the Lower Keys’ most legendary landmarks. Geiger Key Marina needed a visual direction that balanced its “Old Florida” heritage with a professional, scalable aesthetic.

During the initial phase, I presented three distinct shirt designs. In a rare move of 100% concept adoption, the client chose to produce all three—setting the stage for a total brand evolution that eventually touched every facet of their business, from the physical docks to their digital presence.

The Strategy

Multi-Channel Aesthetic Integration To maximize the value of the creative work, we developed a design strategy that allowed the original shirt concepts to live across multiple platforms. This approach ensures that the “Geiger Key Aesthetic” remains consistent, whether a customer is looking at a menu or a mobile device.

Logo Transition & Merchandise Strategy

The most impactful design was reworked to become the official Geiger Key Marina logo, replacing their legacy mark with something that felt both fresh and timeless. We then applied the remaining artwork to high-turnover merchandise, including custom coasters and a series of three unique hat designs—all of which were produced and sold to enthusiasts.

Web Redesign & Digital Visual Assets

The brand identity was finally brought to life online through a full web redesign. By using the graphic components from the apparel as the building blocks for the website, we achieved a level of brand consistency that is rarely seen in local marinas.

The Results: 100% Concept Adoption and Market Impact

This design case study proves the power of local intuition. By presenting 3 concepts for shirts and 3 for hats—and having all six designs reach production—we demonstrated that a deep understanding of the Key West brand identity results in zero wasted effort and maximum market impact.
